Maliyadeva pockets schools netball title

Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya from Kurunegala stole the limelight at the 31st Sri Lanka Schools netball championship that took place last week at the Uyanwatte Stadium in Matara.
They emerged overall champions having won in the under-19, under-15 and under-13 age categories as well, conducted in the ‘A’ division. The under-17 age category was won by Mahamaya Balika Vidyalaya from Kandy.
The overall champions in the B division were Mahinda Vidyalaya, Gettuwana. They emerged champions in the under-17 category and finished runners-up in the under-19 category that was won by Sujatha BV, Matale.
The championship was organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Netball Association under the guidance of the Ministry of Education took place from November 4 to 6. This was sponsored by Nestle (Milo) with the participation of over 4000 players from 800 schools across the country.

Under-19:
Champions: Maliyadeva BV, Kurunegala.
Runners-up: HFC, Kalutara.

Under-17:
Championships: Mahamaya BV, Kandy.
Runners-up: Hillwood College, Kandy.

Under-15:
Champions: Maliyadeva BV, Kurunegala.
Runners-up: Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda.

Under-13:
Champions: Maliyadeva BV.
Runners-up: Devibalika Vid. Colombo.

A division
most outstanding players:
Under-19: Bhashini Udagedara, Maliyadeva BV.
Under-17: Ayodya Alawattegama, Mahamaya BV, Kandy.
Under-15: Senumi Nimansa, Maliyadeva BV.
Under-13: Sheyara Wijesuriya, Maliyadeva BV.

Results: B division

Under-19: Champions: Sujatha BV Matale,
Runners-up: Mahinda Vidyalaya Gettuwana.
Under-17: Champions: Mahinda MMV, Gettuwana.
Runners-up: Molaelapitiya Primary, Kuliyapitiya.

Under-15:
Champions: Sri Sunanda MV, Padeniya.
Runners-up: Udispattuwa Primary School.

Division B:
Most outstanding players:
Under-19: Kavindi Amarasuriya, Sujatha MV, Matale.
Under-17: Ransi Wijewardane, Mahinda Vidyalaya, Gettuwana.
Under-15: SPKN Gunathilake, Sunanda MV, Padeniya.
