The fourth round of the 15th Ritzbury Summa Super 16 Junior Rugby Carnival, sponsored by Ritzbury for the 15th consecutive year, is ready to take place today, November 10, at the Bogambara Stadium in Kandy.

In the fray will be 47 teams in the Under-10 category and 64 teams in the Under-12 category from the Central, Uva, North Central and Sabaragamuwa Provinces.

The Summa Super 16 Committee was initially founded by the late Summa Navaratnam, a legendary figure in Sri Lankan rugby, to introduce children to the sport and help them develop their rugby skills from a young age.

Over 1,200 young players have participated in each of the previous rounds held at the Royal Sports Complex in Colombo and a similar turnout is expected today in Kandy.

According to Shahid Sangani, General Secretary of the Super 16 Committee, this program was created to carry on Navaratnam’s vision of nurturing young talent in rugby.
