For the fifth consecutive year, café chain Barista will collaborate with the SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka to spread joy during the holiday season to children from underprivileged backgrounds.
For a nominal fee of Rs. 300, visitors to any of Barista’s 45 outlets across Sri Lanka can purchase a meal coupon which will provide three meals for a child, meeting their daily nutritional needs.
Barista’s Brand Manager Theekshana Mapatuna said, “This project is very close to the hearts of everyone at Barista. For five years now we have been committed to ensuring that the children at SOS Children’s Villages have access to a basic necessity such as three nutritious meals per day.
“We have been so overwhelmed by the beautiful response from our loyal customers who have shown great love and support for the project. We sincerely hope the effort continues this year and allows us to extend greater support to these children,” he said. Barista also introduces a special Christmas menu for the season, and 10% of each item sold from this menu is also added on to the SOS final contribution. Last year Barista donated Rs. 2.7 million thanks to the generosity of patrons and friends.
Many well-known celebrities also endorse the project and help create awareness on the importance of sharing the joys of the season with the less fortunate. This season the café chain aims to raise Rs. 5 million through contributions. The meal coupons will be available at all outlets from December 1, simultaneous to the launch of the Christmas menu. Making the project accessible to anyone from anywhere, the meal coupons will also be available on Uber and PickMe, and the Barista e-Shop from December 1.
