The Swarangi 2024 concert, presented by St. Joseph’s Girls’ College, Nugegoda was held at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre last week. The concert, executed according to the original concept of the Principal, Rupa Rohini Silva was a vibrant showcase of talent and creativity.
The concert featured 30 spectacular performances in dancing, singing, instrumental music and acting, directed by Dr. K.A. Irosha Priyangani, Head of the Aesthetics Department. Ms. Yamuna Priyanti, Thushari Damayanti, Suchith Jayatunga, Mallika Jayanthi, Lakshya Lakmini, Dinoo Fernando and Sujani Wijekoon participated.
More than 1,500 students participated in the concert, which was a blend of oriental and western music, traditional upcountry and low-country dances, Bharata and Kathak dance forms, as well as creative dance, film song performances and dramatic acting.
Western Province Education Secretary, Nishanthi Jayasinghe, Piliyandala Regional Director, Kumudu Hemamali, Rev. Father Gemunu Dias (General Manager of Catholic Education) and several renowned artists were present.
