Promising swimmer Hiruki de Silva has been contracted by Quantum Fitness as its ambassador, the company said in a media statement.

De Silva received her appointment presented by the company’s chairman Nomal Wijeratne last week at its showroom at Battaramulla.
“Quantum has had a longstanding commitment to supporting sports in Sri Lanka and helping sportsmen and women reach their full potential. We identified Hiruki’s potential to put Sri Lanka on the global swimming map and wanted to support her efforts wholeheartedly. Hiruki’s achievements so far have been exemplary and we look forward to watching her take Sri Lankan swimming to great heights,” said Wijeratne.
Hiruki, a student of Gateway College, has already had an outstanding year in the pool breaking junior national and South Asian records.
At the World Aquatics Championships in Doha she recorded the fastest time by a South Asian swimmer in the 200m women’s freestyle event.
The current women’s national champion, Hiruki last year won five medals in the 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 400m freestyle and 200m individual medley.
