Debutants, Maliban Biscuits, led by Tharindu Siriwardena emerged as the new League winners in the 31st Singer – MCA Super Premier League 2024.
The Super League is conducted in three stages, the league, the knock-out and the T20. The league round robin, contested by seven teams playing a total of 21 matches, commenced on October 4 and was concluded on November 22.
Maliban Biscuits playing their last match in their quota of matches on October 22 at the Colts ground, registered their fifth win in six outings.
They beat BBK Partnership by 91 runs on the DLS method. Maliban Biscuits, batting first cracked 301 runs for the loss of 8 wickets and BBK Partnership were 154 for 7 in 31.3 overs when rain abandoned play.
Maliban Biscuits, thus with five wins and one defeat, headed the leader board to claim the prestigious League title.
Coming up next is the knock-out segment, with the four top teams in the league stage leader board.
The semi-finals will be played between League No.1 versus League No. 4 and League No. 2 versus League No. 3, followed by the T20 with six teams playing in two groups on a league format.
