Maris Stella College, Negombo and Lyceum International School, Wattala emerged Boys’ and Girls’ champions respectively at the 53rd Sir John Tarbat Junior Athletics Championship that was held in Matara.
In the Boys’ category, St. Benedict’s Kotahena and St. Joseph’s Colombo finished second and third respectively while in the Girls’ category, Ave Maria Convent, Negombo and Sujatha Vidyalaya, Matara, finished second and third respectively.
Long jumpers Dilini Rajapaksa (6.04m) of Lyceum Wattala and A.S. Samalka of Gonagala MV (6.54m) were adjudged the best female and male athletes respectively in the championship.
Girls’ High School, Kandy (girls) and St. Benedict’s Kotahena sealed the girls’ and boys’ relay championship.
