The Navy has deployed 10 relief teams to Ampara, Trincomalee, and the Anuradhapura districts to assist communities affected by severe flooding due to the adverse weather. The teams continued relief operations in the affected areas yesterday too (November 30).

With the heavy rainfall; Navinnaweli in Ampara, Mailapancheni, Safinagar, Muththuchchennai (Thuwakkuwa Junction), Mutur Junction and Kattaparichchan in Trincomalee, Parakramapura (Ma Oya) and Buddangala (Weli Ela) in Anuradhapura were inundated and the relief teams were deployed in these areas for flood relief work, a media release by the Sri Lanka Navy Media stated.

The relief teams are providing essential transportation via dinghies to support daily activities, distribute cooked meals, and rescue those affected by floods. More relief teams are on standby to respond to any emergency in flood-stricken areas in the country.
