Sri Lanka attracted over 25,000 tourists in the first week of December 2024 and with the number of tourist arrivals averaging around 6,000 per day, the island is expected to achieve over two million in the number of arrivals this year.
For the first time this year, the Russian Federation (4,418) overtook India (4,317) to be the number one source market for Sri Lanka. The United Kingdom (1,592) was third while Poland (1,249) and China (1,210) were fourth and fifth.
From January 1 up to December 4, 2024 Sri Lanka attracted 1,828,831 visitors and here India was the major contributor (368,410) while Russian Federation (166,652) and United Kingdom (161,174) were second and third.
