National handloom exhibition concludes today

The ‘Ransalu’ National Handloom Textile Exhibition and Trade Fair was launched on Friday at the BMICH, with Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, Sunil Handunnetthi and Deputy Minister Chathuranga Abeysinghe as special invitees.

The country’s local traditional industries need to be given value and an element of modernisation should be added to them to go forward and these industries should be a huge part of the country’s export economy, Minister Handunneththi said. The exhibition which concludes today features a variety of handloom products, including clothes, tablecloths, and bedspreads and is attracting many locals and tourists as well.
