Ather Energy launches e-scooter in Sri Lanka

Ather Energy, an Indian electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, launched its Ather450X electric scooter in Sri Lanka on November 29.

This launch is powered by Evolution Auto (Pvt) Ltd., a joint venture between Atman Group and Sino Lanka (Pvt) Limited, which will serve as the national distributor for Ather Energy in Sri Lanka.

The launch at Cinnamon Life Colombo was attended by Representatives of Ather Energy, including Chief Business Officer Ravneet Phokela and Head of Sales, Service and Support, Gurinder Singh, Chairman, Sino Lanka, Bob Kundanmal, Director of Sino Lanka, Dhiren Kundanmal, and Directors of Atman Group, Nathan Sivagananathan and Ranjith Leon were present.

Evolution Auto (Pvt) Ltd. plans to set up a network of Ather Grid fast-charging stations across the country, making electric vehicle adoption more accessible and convenient.

Chief Business Officer of Ather Energy, Ravneet Phokela said, “We are thrilled to open our first Experience Centre in Sri Lanka, where we are starting our sales with the Ather 450X. We believe that the 450X, with its emphasis on performance, is a great fit for the Sri Lankan market. Its acceleration, manoeuvrability, and ride handling permit riders to easily navigate city routes and diverse terrains.

“Given an increasing shift towards EVs in the Sri Lankan market, we are looking forward to seeing a positive response from our customers here,” he said.

General Manager of Evolution Auto, Zahran Ziyawudeen said, “Partnering with Ather Energy to introduce a cutting-edge range of electric scooters to Sri Lanka marks a milestone for us as we embark on a journey to revolutionise transportation in the country.

“By bringing Ather’s innovative technology and high-performance electric vehicles to the country, we aim to not only provide consumers with high-end products but also inspire a shift towards cleaner, greener transportation solutions.

“Together, we are paving the way for an eco-friendly future while supporting the growth of an EV ecosystem that aligns with Sri Lanka’s aspirations for sustainable development,” he said.
