The much-anticipated Sankalana Arts Festival of Pannipitiya Dharmapala Vidyalaya was held on November 19 at the Auditorium of the University of Moratuwa. The event marked a celebration of creativity and culture after a five-year hiatus, caused by the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and other national crises.
Renowned musician, Dr. Rohana Weerasinghe, was the Chief Guest. Organised under the guidance of the current Principal, M. Rupasinghe and with the leadership of Deputy Principal (Subject Coordination), Ven. Theripeha Dhammalankara Thera, Sankalana showcased a seamless integration of drama, Eastern and Western music and visual arts. Teachers and students from various departments dedicated themselves to making this event a success, blending creativity with teamwork to craft an extraordinary experience.
The primary objective of Sankalana is to cultivate a generation of culturally enriched people who value teamwork, creativity and mutual cooperation. Moving beyond the boundaries of competitive education, the event reflects the school’s emphasis on holistic development.
