Many rising star junior golfers are expected to participate in the Sri Lanka Junior Open Golf Championship that will be held from December 10 to 12 at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) course.
Prima Bread will continue to sponsor this prestigious event for the 16th year.
Andy Wirawan, Group General Manager of Prima Group stated that it has been a great privilege for his company to partner with Sri Lanka Golf for over a decade.

“We firmly believe that our sponsorship provides us with a unique opportunity each year to be part of a journey that recognizes and empowers young, aspiring players helping them to develop their potential and achieve excellence in the sport,” said Wirawan.
Sri Lanka Golf (SLG) said it was grateful for Prima’s enduring partnership as they have been instrumental in making this event one of the most sought after tournaments in the national golf calendar.
“It is a testament to Prima’s commitment to the sport,” said Ranil Pieris president of SLG.
However, the success of the development of junior golfers is mainly due to the commitment and dedicated work done by Niloo Jayatilake the chairperson of the Junior Development Committee.
“Part of our junior development in Sri Lanka has resulted in having two junior golfers participating in the Indian junior tournament.
“One is from Anuradhapura and one from this club. We are seeing national level representation in golf in the last seven years”, she said.
“The great news is that we will be having about 100 junior golfers competing next week.
“Unfortunately there are no foreign entries this year and entries are not yet closed.
“However we have about fifty per cent coming from outstations and 50 per cent from the Western Province and that’s the game changer that has happened to Sri Lankan and junior golf,” said Niloo Jayatilake.
The tournament will be conducted in four age categories.
The first in the Open gold division for boys and girls aged 15 to 18 years, Silver division for boys and girls aged 13 to 14, Bronze division for those aged between 11 and 12 years and the Copper division for those aged 10 years and under.
