Unbeaten Colombo South emerge champions

The champion Colombo South U-15 squad comprising Stevon Peiris (Captain - St. Peter’s), Dineth Neumal (Wadduwa CC), Tharuka Saminjana (Tissa MMV), Adeesha Lakshan (St. Sebastian’s), Reshon Solomons (S. Thomas’), Nisala Damith (St. Sebastian’s), Methuka Gunaratne (St. Peter’s), Samithu Hensara (Sri Sumangala), Methum Fernando (Sri Sumangala Panadura), Dushen Udawela, Thumindu Somasiri, Chamitha Kankanamge and Mahiru Kodithuwakku (all from Royal), Ojash Shankar (Prince of Wales) and Sabodha Dewthilina (Holy Cross).

Unbeaten Colombo South U-15 became the champions of the Prima Sri Lanka Youth League cricket tournament when they crushed Kandy U-15 by a comprehensive 149 runs in the final played at Thurstan College ground on Friday (6).

Colombo South, Kandy, Dambulla, Colombo North and Galle fielded teams.

Colombo South U-15 elected to bat first and scored 214 for 9 in 49 overs as Reshon Solomons scored 77 with 11 boundaries. Tharuka Saminjitha (32 n.o.), Adeesha Lakshan (24) and Chanithu Kankanamge (21) helped to boost their total.

Kandy U-15 was bowled out for 65 in 25.5 as Chanithu Kankanamge claimed 5 wickets for 22 runs.

Special awards were presented to;

Best batter of the tournament – Reshon Solomons (Colombo South)
Best bowler of the tournament – Yumal Egodage (Dambulla)
Payer of the tournament – Dushen Udawela (Colombo South)
Player of the final – Chanithu Kankanamge (Colombo South)
