The Zero Plastic Movement (ZPM) of the University of Kelaniya has taken a significant step forward in its mission to combat plastic pollution with the launch of its official website. This new platform, the first of its kind in Sri Lanka to be initiated by a university, aims to educate, inspire, and unite communities in the fight against plastic waste.

The launch event, organized under Project TechHive by the ZPM Marketing Unit, was held at the Faculty of Computing and Technology. Denver De Zylva, Global Head of Sustainability and Facilities, Senior Vice President, and Joint Country Head at Virtusa Sri Lanka, officially unveiled the website. He also conducted thought-provoking sessions on sustainability, offering practical advice on reducing environmental harm.

The event also featured a virtual appearance by Mr. Nissanka De Silva, Founder of the Zero Plastic Movement, who expressed his admiration for the University of Kelaniya’s dedication to addressing the global plastic crisis. He commended the team for creating a platform that will foster greater collaboration and awareness around sustainability.

The Zero Plastic Movement at the University of Kelaniya is driven by a passion to reduce single-use plastics, raise awareness, and engage communities in building a cleaner, greener future. The newly launched website will serve as a space for education, advocacy, and collaboration to support these efforts.

The project has been made possible through the support of key partners: ServerClub.lk (Private) LTD as the Official Technical Partner, Virtusa as the Official Education Partner, and D&J Tech as the Official Printing Partner. These partnerships reflect a shared commitment to sustainability and innovation.
