Project ‘Trash to Treasure’ – Phase 1
On December 5, 2024 the Leo Club of SLIIT successfully completed Project “Trash to Treasure” – Phase 1 led by Dulanka Yapa, at the Mihisaru Wiyamana Resource Management Center in Karadiyana. This impactful initiative engaged students from Bokundara Mahinda Vidyalaya and Sri Medananda College in an enlightening session on waste management and recycling. Designed to promote sustainable practices, the project received enthusiastic feedback from participants, emphasising its role in inspiring the next generation to transform waste into valuable resources for a greener future.

Project ‘Sihina Piyasara’ – Phase 1
On December 6, 2024 – The Leo Club of SLIIT successfully completed Phase 1 of their project “Sihina Piyasara” at the Peter Weerasekara Children’s Home in Gampaha. The event included donations of school stationery, dry foods, along with other gifts to support the children’s daily needs. The team also organised a cartoon session and a talent show, providing entertainment and opportunities for the children to showcase their skills. The project received enthusiastic feedback from the participants, highlighting its positive impact and offering hope for a brighter future. Project ‘Sihina Piyasara’ highlights the ongoing commitment of the SLIIT Leos to serve the community and make a lasting positive impact on the lives of those in need.

Project ‘Aththrantha’ – Phase 1
On December 7, 2024, the Leo Club of SLIIT successfully completed their road safety project, ‘Aththrantha’, aimed at preventing accidents and promoting safer driving. The project included cleaning and repairing road signs, replacing broken safety mirrors, and placing motivational quotes to encourage safe driving. By restoring and maintaining these safety measures, the project plays an essential role in reducing the risk of accidents and promoting a safer driving environment for all road users. Through this project, the SLIIT Leos has made a positive impact on the community by fostering responsible driving habits and contributing to the overall safety of the public. The project exemplifies the club’s dedication to serving society and creating a safer environment for everyone.
Project ‘Haritha Dharani’ – Phase 1
The Leo Club of SLIIT successfully completed the project ‘Haritha Dharani’ on December 8, 2024, at the Bemmulla Siri Wardhana Pirivena Temple in Gampaha. This initiative was focused on planting medicinal plants, a crucial step in preserving Sri Lanka’s rich Ayurvedic heritage while promoting environmental sustainability. A total of 30 medicinal plants, vital for traditional Sinhala Ayurveda, were carefully planted and nurtured during the event. These plants are known for their effective role in producing natural remedies and contributing to holistic healthcare practices. The participants also watered the plants, ensuring their survival and growth for long-term impact. The project highlighted the importance of conserving indigenous flora, fostering awareness about the significance of Ayurvedic plants in natural medicine, and promoting ecological harmony.
