Salasbananas is a friendly neighbourhood yogashala tucked away in scenic Talpe that offers tailor-made rituals including Sound, Mandala art, Reiki healing and walks.

After spending years in corporate boardrooms followed by hedonistic wanderings, Sala – the studio’s founder, broke out of the matrix and built Salasbananas. The yogashala offers an organic space that many in the wellness industry had failed to capture. Your typical spa-resorts offer a weekend with an itinerary spaced between trips to buffets while a weary wait staff harkens to every beck and call.

If that is not your cup of tea; if you are feeling adventurous and needing that good-old grounding, Salasbananas is just the place to get your chakras into alignment.

Sala, an artist and yogi, sees wellness as a birthright and a practice that helps people align with who they are. “Wellness is not just about being healthy, but about defining it for oneself”.

Sala describes his inclusive space as different from other wellness centres, focusing on releasing, letting go and being oneself. The goal of Salasbananas is to create spaces for people to access their own inner healer and wisdom.

Sala says that wellness culture has become commodified, particularly in Western societies and has been used to bypass spiritual growth and hard work. “It’s important to be heartful, rather than just mindful, and creating a connection between the mind and heart. Love is a practice,” Sala explains, “and I consider this space a temple of love.”

Salasbananas is looking to grow its space and making it more accessible to locals and provide access to healing practices that are already available in the country. They also plan to introduce yoga and wellness into schools and communities, promoting sustainability and positivity in the tourism industry.
