Under-14 USA academy squad tours Sri Lanka

A squad of under-14 cricketers from an academy in the USA will tour Sri Lanka for a series of matches starting on December 24.

The players are coached by former Sri Lanka and Malaysia coach Mumtaz Yusuf and they will play their first match against St. Benedict’s College on December 24 and end their tour with a match against St. Joseph’s College on January 2, 2025.

Yusuf’s former team-mate at Moors Sports Club, Bernard Wijetunga, is the travel coordinator of the tour to Sri Lanka.

The players hail from an institution calling itself SCCAY of the USA and will also play against the MCA Academy, Foundation of Goodness Academy and the Colts Cricket Academy.

The tour party is made up of Tarun Sribhaskar, Vijayan Sriram, Hrishikesh Giri, Rohan Musti, Rohan Bhangay, Atharv Pilkhane, Rahul Musti, Arnov Kadakia, Rishi Musti, Aarush Narsina, Jiansh Maker and Aaroush Khambholja described as promising players.

A tour party official said the Sri Lanka tour marks a unique initiative designed to support young athletes while giving back to the community promoting youth development, fostering teamwork and inspiring future sportspeople.
