Expolanka Holdings demonstrated their football dominance by winning the prestigious Division-I Mercantile Football League Championship and the Mercantile Knockout Tournament title for 2024 at the City League ground Colombo 2 on Friday.
In the Division-I category, Expolanka Holdings proved to be a force to be reckoned with as they beat HNB Assurance 4-0 in the final with goals from M Shaheel, Siraj Jain, Shazny Rahuman and Shamri Mohammed.
They defeated Akbar Brothers in the quarter-finals and Traveller Global in the semi-finals.
Shaheel was adjudged the best player of the tournament while his team mate MHM Hafeel was declared the best goal keeper.
In the Division-II category, C W Mackie ended as Champions after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Laugfs Holdings in the final with best player of the tournament Shardeen Sudar striking the winning goal.
