Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma said the Government will provide an allowance of Rs. 6,000 each to all students from families receiving Aswesuma benefits and children from other families facing economic difficulties before the upcoming school term.

The Deputy Minister said that this task can be done easily as there is already a system in schools to select students who are not receiving Aswesuma benefits but are facing economic hardships. He said that through this, relief can be provided to families facing economic hardships quickly.

The allowance will be given to 825,000 children from families receiving Aswesuma benefits and nearly 250,000 children from families facing economic hardships who are not entitled to Aswesuma.
