Accordingly, the end user and bulk supply tariff proposals by CEB, for the first tariff revision of 2025, were received by the Commission on December 06, 2024.
To proceed with the tariff review process, the Commission requested information and clarifications from the CEB and LECO.
The PUCSL is empowered to seek views of stakeholders on tariff review iIn terms of Section 17(b) of Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka Act, No. 35 of 2002, and Section 30(3)(b) of Sri Lanka Electricity Act, No. 20 of 2009.
The PUCSL approved the revision of electricity tariffs in March 2024. The overall tariff reduction was 21.9 percent. The CEB had proposed to reduce tariffs by 3.4 percent last January and then by 16 percent in a revised proposal presented on February 22.
The commission decided to reduce the electricity tariffs by 21.9 percent, considering suggestions made during the public consultation and reviews carried out by the Public Utilities Commission of the cost data submitted by the Ceylon Electricity Board.
