The 2025 Appropriation Bill presented to Parliament on Thursday with allocations for ministries has set a borrowing ceiling of Rs. 4,400 billion.
The limit on borrowings comprise roll-overs and do not correspond to the new financing (deficit) indicated in the budget presentation.
The amount set as current spending is Rs. 4,218 billion while capital expenditure is Rs. 4,616 billion.
The expenditure for the Army has increased to Rs. 220 billion from Rs. 214 billion while the allocation for the Ministry of Health is Rs. 169 billion rupees as operational activities and 213 billion as developmental activities.
The presentation of the Appropriation Bill is regarded as the First Reading of the Budget.
