World food prices dip 2% in 2024 – FAO

The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) said on Friday that world food commodity prices had dropped by 2.1 percent in 2024 compared to the previous year.

However, food prices remained considerably higher than before the Covid-19 pandemic.

FAO’s overall Food Price Index averaged 122.0 points — 2.6 points or 2.1 percent lower than the average value in 2023.
