Fusion Apparel, a joint venture of Brandix, has inked an agreement with the Board of Investment (BOI) to set up a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility focused on glue bonding garments.
The US $ 1.06 million facility will produce export-oriented glue bonded garments and will also offer glue bonding services to other BOI-registered companies, the BOI stated. “Further enhancing technology-learning for the industry and providing 100 employment opportunities,” the apex body for investments stated.
The agreement for the venture was exchanged between officials of the BOI and Fusion Apparel at the BOI premises in Colombo.
Glue bonding in garments is a modern method of joining fabric layers or parts using special adhesives, instead of stitching them together.
The technology is mainly used to create seamless clothing varieties such as lightweight activewear, waterproof jackets, soft lingerie and durable outdoor gear.
