The Leo Club of SLIIT organized the “Suwamanpetha” project on December 30 at the Karuna Elders Home in Boralesgamuwa, under the Lions Global Service framework for diabetes awareness and management. This impactful initiative focused on enhancing the quality of life for elderly residents by offering health education, medical assistance, and emotional support.

The event included a nutritious kenda, specially prepared for diabetic patients, served during the morning tea break, promoting healthy dietary habits. Leos then engaged the residents with songs and interactive entertainment, creating a joyful atmosphere. The Leos also prepared and served lunch for the elders and presented them with new clothes and essential items as New Year gifts.

A key contribution was the donation of glucometers and diabetes awareness posters to the care home, equipping the residents and staff with valuable resources for ongoing diabetes management. The project concluded with heartfelt gratitude from the residents, leaving a lasting positive impact on their lives.
