The Valvettithurai Thai Pongal International kite festival will be held at the Uthayasooriyan beach, Valvettithurai, Jaffna on Tuesday, January 14.
Sri Lanka is home to some of the best kite makers and flyers in the world, and on January 14, the people will witness various kite displays — featuring 3D, 4D (3D + wind turbine), 5D (4D + moving levers), and 6D (5D + changing kite configurations) — soaring across our skies. Coordinator of the kite festival and Chairman of the International Air Sports Committee of the International Federation of Municipalities’ Sports and Tourism, Capt. Harsha Koralearachchi said, “This is an extraordinary celebration of culture, creativity, and vibrant colour that blends ancient traditions with modern artistry.
Join us in experiencing the beauty, warm hospitality, and heritage of Sri Lanka as we promote global unity through sport and tourism. “The world is welcome to be a part of this unforgettable celebration,” he added.
