Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said that no matter how well institutions and medical systems are maintained, the ultimate goal of every sector and medical system should be to keep the citizens healthy.

The Minister made these comments while addressing a meeting held with the hospital staff and representatives of the Homeopathic Medical Council following an inspection tour of the Welisara Homeopathic Hospital, the only homeopathic hospital owned by the Government.

With the vision of creating a healthy population, the Welisara Government Homeopathic Hospital provides treatment for all children’s and women’s diseases, asthma and respiratory disorders, skin diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, neurological diseases, chronic headaches, tonsillitis, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, joint disorders and arthritis.

The hospital also carries out a number of active programs to popularise homeopathy as an easy and affordable medical system to alleviate and prevent diseases at a low cost to all people in the country.

Minister Dr. Jayatissa took steps to investigate the status of homeopathic medical treatment services in the country and the future goals of homeopathic medical treatment services, a medical system with a history of over 200 years and it is the most popular medical system in the world apart from Western medicine.

The Minister also inspected the outpatients department, inpatient treatment wards, drug store and other treatment services of the Welisara Homeopathic Hospital.

The outpatient department of the Homeopathic Hospital in Welisara treats about 200 patients daily, while the inpatient department operates 24 hours a day.

The Minister said that plans will be made to promote this homeopathic medical treatment system in the country, which has the ability to completely cure diseases without side effects.
