Ports Authority and Air Force win volleyball titles

Sri Lanka Ports Authority and Air Force won the men’s and women’s titles of the Super League National Volleyball Championship organized by the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation.

The final of this tournament, which featured 17 of Sri Lanka’s leading teams, was held at the Sir Albert F. Pieris Indoor Stadium, Wennappuwa on January 4.

In the men’s final, Ports Authority defeated Ceylon Electricity Board 3–0.

The Ports Authority team which dominated the match won all three sets 25–19, 25–22 and 25–21 to emerge champions.

It was noteworthy that Sri Lanka Ports Authority was the last to win the men’s division of the National Volleyball Championship held in 2018. Meanwhile, the Air Force team, which faced Sri Lanka Ports Authority in the women’s final, won 3-1 and won the Champions Trophy for the seventh time.

In this situation, the Army teams secured third place in both the men’s and women’s categories.

Meanwhile, Lasindu Wasanthapriya of Ports Authority won the best men’s player award while Chathurika Ranasinghe of the Air Force was adjudged as the best player in the women’s category.
