Two young golfers, Jevahn Sathasivam and Kaya Daluwatte, have earned an incredible opportunity to compete in the Faldo Series Grand Final in Vietnam after winning the Faldo Series Junior Golf Tournament Sri Lanka Regional Finals held at the Royal Colombo Golf Club that brought together some of the best junior golfers in Sri Lanka and India.
Kaya Daluwatte’s victory was one of the most impressive performances of the tournament. Not only did she win her age category (Girls 17-21), but she also took home the Overall Champion title, beating both boys and girls.
Kaya’s performance was strong from the start, with scores of 69, 69 and 70 for a total of 208, eight under par. She made history by hitting three eagles on holes 1, 2 and 7 showing her power and accuracy on the course.
With this victory, Kaya now qualifies for the Faldo Junior Tour Asia Grand Final in 2025 in Vietnam, where she will compete against the best golfers from across Asia.
In the boys’ 13-16 category, Sathasivam made a stunning comeback to win the tournament. After falling behind by six shots on the first day, he stayed focused and kept fighting and played brilliantly with rounds of 70 and 69, including a strong 2-under par finish on the final day.
His total score of 212 earned him first place, just two strokes ahead of his closest competitor Reshan Algama.
Sathasivam’s win gives him the chance to compete in the Nick Faldo Series Finals in Vietnam, an exciting opportunity to showcase his skills on a bigger stage.
In the boys’ 17-21 category, Haroon Aslam from Victoria Golf Resort won with a score of 212, edging out Shamit Dakhane (IND) and Yannik Kumara, who both finished with 213. Aslam’s consistent rounds of 72, 69 and 71 made him the leader in this group.
In the 11-12 age group, Lavindu Premaratna from the Anuradhapura Golf Academy (AGA) took first place in the boys’ division with a score of 108, while Revaan Amarasinghe finished second with 113. In the girls’ division, Genuli Weerakoon from the Anuradhapura Golf Academy emerged as the winner with a total of 126, ahead of Nimasha Iddamalgoda from the same academy and Mihneli Herat, who both finished with higher scores.
In the 9-10 age group, Vivaan Singh (IND) topped the boys’ category with a score of 113, while Jaeden Sathasivam finished second with 124.
In the girls’ division, Aashna Amogha (IND) claimed victory with 134, followed by Brighton Chan (HK) with 142.
The youngest golfers, in the 7-8 age group, displayed impressive performances as well. The boys’ winner was Thewusas Bandara Etipola with a total of 183, while the girls’ winner was T. Onitha with 187.
