President holds talks with leading Chinese entities to attract investments

Sri Lanka inks agreement for highest foreign investment

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake during his four-day visit to China held a series of discussions with representatives of several leading Chinese corporations.

The President also took part in an investment forum organised by business entities in China.

China Communications Construction Company Ltd.

(CCCC), China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec Group), Metallurgical Corporation of China Ltd. (MCC), Huawei and BYD Auto, were some of the companies with whom the discussions were held. The President spoke on the investment opportunities in Sri Lanka and assured potential investors that the Government is committed to provide facilities and support investors. Sri Lanka also received the largest foreign investment with the Ministry of Energy and China’s Sinopec signing an agreement for a $3.7 billion investment to build an oil refinery with a capacity of 200,000 barrels in Hambantota.
