Defending inter club league rugby champions CR and FC were forced into a hard fought 40-20 win over an enterprising Police SC team at Longden Place yesterday with two of their ties scored in the final four minutes of play.
It was not until four minutes before the end that CR sealed the result when Senal Adikaram crossed the line for a try to make the scores 33-20 with Police needing to score and convert for an upset win while trailing 20-26 until the 76th minute.
The final try was scored by Rinesh Silva.
In all CR scored six tries with five converted while Police SC scored two tries, two conversions, one drop-goal and a penalty.
