The Goethe-Institut PASCH Alumni Sri Lanka hosted the much-anticipated event Gemeinsam zum Ziel (Together to the Goal) at the Goethe-Institut Sri Lanka, Colombo recently. This innovative gathering brought together PASCH and BKD alumni aged 18–30 for an afternoon of tabletop gaming, combining recreation with skill-building in a unique and interactive way.
The event was organised by PASCH alumna Shamla Hamza from Musaeus College, to foster networking and professional growth among alumni. As many participants are studying or working in universities, the focus was on developing essential skills such as strategic thinking and collaboration. Shamla said, “Tabletop gaming is an excellent way to unwind while promoting critical skills that are vital for personal and professional success. It also encourages meaningful interactions.”
The event began with a panel discussion led by experts from Table Top SL, who explored the educational and social benefits of tabletop games. Participants engaged in structured gaming sessions designed to enhance teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making in a fun, hands-on environment.
The organising team said, “Tabletop gaming is the perfect medium to combine fun with skill-building,” emphasizing its role in building trust, camaraderie, and critical thinking.
Gemeinsam zum Ziel served as a platform for alumni to reconnect and strengthen community ties. Friendly competitions, prizes, and a vibrant atmosphere made the event even more memorable.
The success of Gemeinsam zum Ziel reaffirmed the collective vision of the PASCH initiative, which is supported by the German Federal Foreign Office, Goethe-Institut, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), and the Central Agency for Schools Abroad (ZfA).
These organisations work together to promote cultural exchange, lifelong learning, and the German language worldwide.
