Doctors defeated the lawyers by 30 runs to win the inaugural Law-Medical Masters cricket encounter played at the LRDC ground Nawala last Sunday.
Electing to bat first the doctors powered by a half century from T Gowribahan and almost a run-a-ball 48 by Rajiv Nirmalasingham and a useful 35 from skipper Channa Yahathugoda posted 219/9 in their 40 overs.

Kamal Jayathilake was the pick of the bowlers with a four wicket haul.
In the chase, Thusith Paliwatta got off to an explosive start smashing 25 off12 balls before Rusiru Jayathilake had him caught in the third over of the innings and thereon the doctors managed to keep the run rate in check while claiming wickets at regular intervals.
Sumudu Liyanarachchi going in at Number 8 gave the lawyers’ innings some respect scoring a brisk 42 off 32 balls.
The best batsman was T Gowribahan (doctors), best bowler Kamal Jayathilake (lawyers), best fielder Chathuranga Ranasinghe (lawyers) and player of the match was Rajiv Nirmalasingham (doctors).
The encounter was organised by the Sri Lanka Medical Association in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Bar Association.
