The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is in discussion with Sri Lanka to fund the island with US$900 million this year to support the economy.
The Manila-based lender provided US$ 808 million in 2024 to help the country emerge from an economic crisis.
The financing this year will be for sectors such as agriculture, finance, power, tourism and skills development and macroeconomic stability, Cholpon Mambetova, ADB Country Operations Head said.
Country Director Takafumi Kadono said the bank is extending its support for Sri Lanka in priority sectors, as the country recovers from the economic crisis.
