Life insurer Ceylinco Life has made an allocation of Rs. 22.4 million to be paid out as scholarships to high achieving young Sri Lankans this year, continuing a flagship rewards program the company launched over two decades ago.

With this 24th edition of the Ceylinco Life Pranama Scholarships program, the company’s investment in motivating academic and extracurricular excellence will reach Rs. 240 million, while the number of beneficiary students will total 3,498, a company spokesman said.

This year’s Pranama scholarships, to be presented in September, will reward 160 students in four categories – those who excelled at the Year 5 scholarship examination, the GCE Ordinary Level, the GCE Advanced Level, and young Sri Lankans that achieved national or international recognition in sports, art, drama, invention or the creative fields.

Open to the children of over a million Ceylinco Life policyholders in every district, the Pranama Scholarships program motivates and grooms future leaders in areas such as medicine, engineering, law and the arts, while assisting parents with the burden of the ever-escalating costs of education.

Ceylinco Life has commenced accepting applications from those eligible to receive scholarships. They are students who excelled at the 2024 Year 5 scholarship examination, the 2023 GCE O/L and A/L, and those that won recognition in extracurricular endeavours in 2023-24. The closing date for applications is April 30, 2025.

A child who achieved the first place among the children of Ceylinco Life policyholders in each district at the Year 5 scholarship exam will receive a scholarship to the value of Rs 240,000 over five years. Similarly, children who achieved the first place in each district at the GCE O/L will each receive a scholarship worth Rs 168,000 over two years, while four children who achieve first place in each stream among the children of Ceylinco Life policyholders in each district at the GCE A/L will receive a scholarship to the value of Rs 120,000 as a one-time payment.
