Institute of Chemistry Ceylon joins hands with Chemical Research Society of India

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon (IChemC) and the Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI) during the 34th CRSI National Symposium in Chemistry, held from February 6–8, 2025, at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal, India.

The MoU, aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two organizations, was signed by Prof. Janitha Liyanage, President of IChemC, and Prof. Uday Maitra, President of CRSI. The agreement is designed to establish continuous communication and exchange in the field of chemistry and related disciplines, benefiting the scientific communities of both Sri Lanka and India.

The partnership will focus on collaborative projects in scientific research, education, and social initiatives that will foster mutual growth and development.

Notable representatives from the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) including Dr. Helen Pain, CEO, Dr. Ale Palermo, Head of Global Inclusion of RSC, and Ajit Kumar Sharma, Managing Director for India and South Asia joined this event in supporting this milestone agreement.

Prof. Priyani Paranagma, Chairperson of the Early Career Network Committee of Commonwealth Chemistry, along with Prof. Ireshika De Silva, Executive Board member of Commonwealth Chemistry also participated representing the Council of the IChemC. Many members from CRSI including Prof. Sandeep Verma, Vice President and the Executive Board member of the Commonwealth Chemistry, Prof N. Jayaraman, the Secretary of the CRSI also joined in witnessing this memorable occasion.

These representatives of both institutions are committed to promoting scientific exchange and educational initiatives under the new MoU.

This agreement is set to strengthen ties between the Indian and Sri Lankan chemical communities and further contribute to global scientific progress through joint efforts in research, education, and knowledge sharing.
