Japanese Navy ship calls at Colombo Port

The Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF) ship ‘Asahi’ arrived at the Port of Colombo on a replenishment visit yesterday morning (March 1). The crew of the ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with Naval traditions.

JMSDF ‘Asahi’, a 151m long destroyer, commanded by Commander Shota Takashiro is manned by a crew of 202.

During its stay in Colombo, crew members will visit tourist attractions in the city and the ship is due to depart tomorrow.
