Kaweesha Bandara who represented Sri Lak Athletic Club set a new Sri Lanka record in the 60 metres hurdles event at the first National Short Track Championships held at the Sugathadasa Stadium on Friday (28).
He completed the 60m hurdles event in 7.80 seconds that set the new Sri Lankan record.
Chamod Yodasinghe, who represented the Sri Lanka Army, completed the 60 metre event in 6.63 seconds and recorded the second fastest time in history.

Dulanjana Pradilani a student of Lyceum College Wattala, won the women’s 1500m and 3000m events respectively to be among the athletes to look forward to in the future.
She completed the 1500 metre event in a time of 4:53.93 secs which was a few split seconds ahead of Vihari Ranainghe of the Air Force.
Later, Dulanjana finished the 3000 metres event for women in a time of 11:09.75 secs that was well ahead of Chamudi Atapattu also of Lyceum Wattala who finished second. (TBR)
