Thomian bowling all-rounder 17-year-old Chrishen Warnasuriya who was picked up by Cranleigh School Surrey on a cricket scholarship in 2021, has returned to Sri Lanka and has been registered for the ongoing U-19 schools cricket season in the 1st XI squad of the Mt. Lavinia school.

A young Chrishen Warnasuriya
Over the last three years at an exclusive English boarding school set in the picturesque Surrey Hills, Chrishen has performed creditably, earning his 1st XI cap there, ranking in the top 10 averages in the county seasons and amongst bowlers with the highest wicket tallies. He has opted to return to what he calls “home” leaving behind another year of a funded bursary and possibly entry into university later this year, had he remained in England.
Also a former SSC Junior Cricket captain and opening batsman, Chrishen had the unique experience to play as the only school-boy in three Royal-Thomian encounters played annually in the UK (2022, 2023 & 2024); becoming the highest wicket-taker for the Thomians in both 2022 & 2023 grabbing some well known Royal scalps amongst his victims.
We look forward to watching him in the domestic scene and wish him the best on his return to Sri Lanka Cricket.
