The Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) concluded its annual research conference, PIMARC 2025, on February 20 at the Institute premises.

Held under the timely and insightful theme, “Thriving in Turbulent Times,” the conference brought together a wealth of knowledge, research, and industry perspectives aimed at addressing the challenges of today’s dynamic business environment.

Aligned with the International Conference of Business Management (ICBM) 2025, PIMARC 2025 further strengthened the research synergies between PIM and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ). The joint conference explored the theme “Tech Titans and Turmoil: Leveraging Disruptive Technologies for Sustainable Business Transformation,” providing a comprehensive platform for researchers and thought leaders to share innovative solutions for navigating the current business landscape.

The Co-Chairs of ICBM 2025, Dr. Neelangi Nanayakkara and Dr. Gayani Samarakoon, contributed to the seamless integration of the two major academic events.

PIMARC 2025, organised in alignment with PIM’s vision to be “The Business School for the New World,” successfully supported the institution’s second pillar of “Insightful Research.”

The event reaffirmed PIM’s commitment to fostering cutting-edge research and enhancing the academic-business ecosystem.

The conference was honoured by the presence of distinguished guests, including Senior Professor Pathmalal Manage, Vice Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, who graced the occasion as the chief guest.

Prof. Robert Faff, Professor at Corvinus University of Budapest and Emeritus Professor at Bond University, Australia, delivered the keynote address, providing valuable insights into the evolving role of research and technology in business transformation. Prof. Dushan Jayawickrama, Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, was the Guest of Honour, while Dr. Asanga Ranasinghe, Director of PIM, welcomed the attendees. Senior Professor Ajantha Dharmasiri and Dr. Trevor Mendis served as Co-Chairs for PIMARC 2025.

This year’s PIMARC conference featured numerous paper presentations, including two dedicated sessions for Doctoral Colloquiums, and research papers across seven distinct streams. A standout feature of PIMARC 2025 was the introduction of the “Best Conference Paper Presenter” awards, where the top paper from each stream, selected through a rigorous assessment process, was honoured with an additional certificate and a monetary prize. This added a competitive edge to the conference and elevated the quality of the research presented.
