High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to New Zealand, Prasanna Gamage called on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand, Winston Peters at the Parliament of New Zealand in Wellington on Thursday.
Minister Peters congratulated the High Commissioner on his appointment as Sri Lanka’s first resident envoy to New Zealand. Minister Peters and High Commissioner Gamage shared views on strengthening Sri Lanka–New Zealand bilateral relations by boosting trade, tourism and agricultural and economic exchange. The discussions also centred on the Sri Lankan community domiciled in New Zealand. Minister Peters acknowledged the improvements in Sri Lanka’s economy and its recovery from the economic crisis in 2022. High Commissioner Gamage briefed the Minister on the actions taken by the Government to ensure fiscal stability and initiate national reconciliation.
