‘Oh that stench’

Most countries have managed to curb the stench emanating from factories and waste disposal sites using the technology. However, it is not the case in Sri Lanka. The smell of fish reaching to the high heavens from the Peliyagoda Central Fish Market is unbearable to those in the vicinity. Bad enough for those in the immediate surroundings the foul odour is felt even by those travelling on the Negombo road. The relocation of the fish market from Colombo Kochchikade to Peliyagoda has not made a difference.
