The second phase of Sihina Piyasara brought a transformative English Day celebration to Demalagama Vanarathana Vidyalaya, fostering students’ language skills and confidence. Initiated after discussions with school officials, the event included competitions and performances, marking a historic moment for the rural school.

On February 7, competitions in dictation, speech, art, and more were held with judges from SLIIT. The team, overcoming financial constraints, ensured a fair and inspiring experience. Intensive preparations led to the grand celebration on February 21, featuring speeches, cultural performances, and certificate distributions.

With support from Coca-Cola and Leo Club members, students enjoyed a vibrant, motivational event. As a gesture of gratitude, the school honoured key organizers with portraits. Concluding with the national anthem, Sihina Piyasara left a lasting impact, empowering students to embrace English as a tool for future success.


SLIIT Leos bring the art of dubbing to life with “Vidu Hastha”

Leo Club of SLIIT conducted Vidu Hastha – Phase 2 , a unique dubbing workshop designed for Ordinary and Advanced Level media students. Renowned dubbing artist Dilan Senanayaka led the session, offering students a live demonstration of professional voice acting techniques.

Participants explored the intricacies of dubbing, including voice modulation, synchronization, and character adaptation, gaining valuable hands-on experience. Held at Gurukala college – Kalaniya, the interactive workshop provided an engaging platform for aspiring media students to refine their skills and deepen their understanding of the art of dubbing.

With enthusiastic participation and expert guidance, Vidu Hastha marked another milestone in the SLIIT Leos’ mission to enhance educational opportunities and inspire young talents in the creative arts.


SLIIT Leo Club hosts thrilling Futsal Tournament

The Leo Club of SLIIT kicked off the Futsal Tournament 2025 on February 23 at Score Arena, Malabe, uniting young athletes for an electrifying day of sportsmanship and competition. With six teams battling it out, the tournament fostered teamwork, discipline, and camaraderie in an exciting league format.

After intense matches, SLIIT Blacks emerged victorious, defeating Pulse FC in a gripping final. The champions secured a cash prize of Rs. 8,000, while the runners-up took home Rs. 4,000. All participants received certificates, recognizing their dedication.

Beyond the competition, the event emphasized fair play, resilience, and leadership. With resounding enthusiasm from players and spectators alike, the Leo Club of SLIIT aims to continue promoting youth engagement through dynamic sports initiatives.


SLIIT Leos champion diabetes awareness with “Hope Pulse” Phase 2

On February 23, 2025, the Leo Club of SLIIT conducted Hope Pulse Phase 2, a diabetes awareness initiative at Cinec Junction, targeting morning joggers and fitness enthusiasts. With a team of 15 dedicated Leos, the project provided free BMI and blood glucose assessments to 90 participants, reinforcing the importance of regular health check-ups alongside exercise.

Herbal tea and healthy snacks complemented the awareness sessions, while medical expert Poojika Palliyaguru educated attendees on diabetes prevention. The initiative not only empowered the community but also inspired Leos to adopt healthier lifestyles. With plans to expand into schools and workplaces, Hope Pulse continues its mission of creating a diabetes-free future through awareness, education, and proactive health monitoring.


Leo Club of SLIIT champions food safety with “Nourish with Care”

Leo Club of SLIIT conducted Phase 2 of “Nourish with Care” on February 24, 2025, at Ihala Bomiriya Junior School, focusing on nutrition and food safety for school children. Partnering with the Public Health Inspector (PHI), the project educated school staff on hygiene practices, safe food handling, and nutrition essentials.

Leo members donated hand wash, toilet cleaners, gloves, head coverings, and aprons, enhancing the school’s hygiene standards. They also visited nearby restaurants, ensuring food safety measures were upheld. Educational materials were distributed among parents, promoting healthy eating habits at home.

This initiative empowered the community with vital knowledge, fostering a healthier future for young minds. The Leo Club of SLIIT remains committed to safeguarding children’s well-being through impactful service projects.
