The Past Pupils Association – Colombo Branch of Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda, recently hosted the ‘Thomas De Silva Oration 2025’ at the school auditorium, for the second consecutive year. It was intended to pay tribute to the school’s founder, Mudliyar Santiago Thomas De Silva, while reinforcing the institution’s commitment to education and personal development.
The oration was delivered by Dr. Ruwan Fernando, Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at St. Mary’s Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, London and an alumnus of Dharmasoka College. Dr. Fernando, has peer-reviewed over 75 research publications and received the Harold Malkin Prize for Best Original Research award by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
In his keynote address, titled “Building a Life of Ideals – Through Knowledge and Discipline,” Dr. Fernando inspired students to embrace discipline and continuous learning as the foundation of success. His speech was intellectually enriching and included valuable health advice.
The Thomas De Silva Oration fosters a culture of lifelong learning and excellence. The event, attended by members of the school community, past teachers, past pupils, was open to the public.
