Sri Lanka’s Muay Thai athletes on arrival at the Airport display their medals

Sri Lanka’s Muay Thai athletes who won 2 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 2 bronze medals at the 20th World Muay Thai Championships held in Thailand arrived at the Katunayake Airport on the night of March 19.

The tournament, organized by the World Muay Thai Federation, was held from March 9 to 19 at the Niminut Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, with the participation of Muay Thai players from 42 countries. Sehas Akisa, who represented Sri Lanka in the 37 kg weight class, 10-11 years old category, had won a gold medal.

He is still a grade six student.

The other gold medal was won by Tharinda Dasunpriya who competed in the open category under the 54 kg weight class.

He is an undergraduate from the University of Aesthetics and Performing Arts affiliated to the University of Colombo.

The medal winners arrived at the Katunayake Airport on AirAsia flight FD-140 from Bangkok, Thailand at 10.10 pm on March 19. Parents, relatives and friends of the athletes were present at the airport to welcome them.
