SriLankan Airlines has plans to increase its weekly flights to Japan, according to a top official of the national carrier.
The flagship carrier which operates non-stop from Colombo to Tokyo five weekly flights plans to increase to seven, he said.
Speaking at a partnership event between SriLankan and the Gustav Mahler Society of Colombo (GMSC) to support the Society’s ‘Spring Concert’ (which was held yesterday), Head of Commercial at SriLankan Airlines, Dimuthu Tennakoon said as Sri Lanka continues to excel as one of the most sought after destinations, developing performing arts and the production of world-class performances will have a major impact on Sri Lanka’s tourism industry. The musical event featured renowned Sri Lankan classical guitarist Jude Peiris and Japanese guest artists Hiroshi Kogure and Miyuki Funatsu.
“Whether celebrating Sri Lanka’s rich artistic heritage or classical Western traditions, SriLankan Airlines remains passionately invested in nurturing homegrown talent and sharing their brilliance with the world,” Manager Corporate Communications at SriLankan Airlines, Deepal Perera said.
Chief Conductor and Music Director of Gustav Mahler Orchestra Colombo, Srimal Weerasinghe said that it is a great honour to have SriLankan Airlines as the official airline partner of the GMSC for the past three years.
