The ‘Invest Sri Lanka’ forum kicked off in Colombo on Thursday with the presence of over 100 international delegates and 400 local participants calling on investors to be part of the country’s growth story.
Top officials of the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) and its regulator the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) presented the state of the economy today having traversed a rugged path for well over two years to a path of recovery which makes it an attractive destination for investors. The previous instance the CSE and SEC made this call at home was in 2014 following the first forum held in 1998.
“Today, Sri Lanka has turned a corner. We’ve made a complete turnaround and currently the economy is at a crucial moment. This is why we believe it’s important to showcase our market,” said CSE Chairman Dilshan Wirasekara.
Finance and Planning Deputy Minister Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma, Emerging and Frontier Markets Team Co-Head James Johnstone, Tundra Founder, AB Founding Partner Chief Investment Officer Mattias Martinsson, Delloite Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Head, Strategy, Risk, and Transactions, Ruvini Fernando, HNB Investment Bank MD/Group CEP, Ray Abeywardena, and Asia Securities Holdings Chairman Dumith Fernando were present.
