Sunshine Foundation for Good (SFG), the CSR arm of Sunshine Holdings PLC, has set up its 21st Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment plant at Nakwatthagama Kanishta Vidyalaya in Kurunegala.
This initiative, part of the Foundation’s flagship ‘Diyasarana’ program, will provide safe drinking water to a community of over 2,500 people, including schoolchildren, aiming to improve health and alleviate the burden of waterborne diseases, especially CKDu across the community. The plant was inaugurated and vested with the people by Sunshine Holdings Deputy Chairman Vish Govindasamy.
Sunshine Holdings Corporate Communications and CSR Manager Lalanthi Rajapakse said, “Water is fundamental to life, yet thousands in rural Sri Lanka struggle daily for access to safe drinking water. The RO plant in Nakwatthagama represents our unwavering commitment to bridging this gap, ensuring not just clean water but a healthier future for these communities. With each project under our Diyasarana initiative, we reaffirm our pledge to empower lives through sustainable solutions that create a lasting impact.”
SFG’s ongoing commitment to providing safe drinking water stems from its larger vision of improving community health and well-being. Since the launch of its first RO plant in Kataragama, the Foundation has steadily expanded its reach, installing 21 plants nationwide to date.
