Gojuryu Karate Championship in Sri Lanka in May

Sri Lanka Gojuryu Karate Federation is to conduct trials on April 2 to select a team of Gojuryu Karatekas in preparation to participate in the Asian Gojuryu Karate Championship to be held in Sri Lanka on May 25 at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium.

Gojuryu Karatekas from all over Sri Lanka are expected to turn up for the trials as the Asian competition will be a valuable experience for them and possibly win medals.

Previously, the Sri Lankan Gojuryu Karate athletes have participated at the Asian Gojuryu Karate Championship held in Malaysia, Indonesia, Nepal and India will be exposed to competing on homeland this time.

These selection competitions are scheduled to be held under the patronage of President of the Sri Lanka Gojuryu Karate Federation (SLGKF) TNK. Perera and his office bearers in Secretary Anura Liyanage and Treasurer Deshadhi Cooray.

This qualifying tournament has been named the 6th National Gojuryu Karate Championship and the coordinator of the championship is Deshadhi Cooray.

The Asian Gojuryu Karate Championship was given to Sri Lanka following the dedicated services made by Sensei Damith Bandara for many years.

The President of the World Gojuryu Karate Federation has also supported this and has asked athletes and officials from all Asian countries to come to Sri Lanka and support it.
