Meet Thamasha Jayasuriya an innovative travel host and program director who graduated with a degree in Bio Medical Science but her true calling led her down an artistic path, which encapsulates a world of travel and discovery.
She is a successful program director who launched her television show, Ms Traveller – Thamasha’s Diary of which she is the director and host. The program stands out as a unique travel show which captures the joys of travelling through the eyes of a solo female traveller.
In her program she explores Sri Lanka and international destinations, while engaging in activities such as scuba diving, abseiling and night camping. She has travelled to over 32 countries sharing her experiences to inspire other solo female travellers to embrace the freedom and independence that comes with travel.
Through her program she promotes Sri Lanka’s tourism and helps local entrepreneurs and brands. Her objective is to showcase the country’s natural beauty, rich history and hidden gems to local and global audiences encouraging sustainable tourism and cultural appreciation. On December 7, 2024, Thamasha achieved a significant milestone by completing the 100th episode of Ms Traveller, amidst many challenges. In 2024, she was honoured with the Jury’s Special Appreciation Award at the Raigam Tele’es 2024.
With this success under her belt, how has Thamasha’s perceptions on life changed with her travels. “Travelling to different places, meeting new people and experiencing both the beauty and challenges of the world has taught me to value every moment and to step out of my comfort zone and embrace the unknown and find joy in the simple things” said Thamasha. “Each journey shows me how connected the world is and inspires me to encourage others to explore, grow and keep chasing their dreams.”
